Education for Advanced Practice module (PN50230)
Prepare for the role of educator, practice supervisor, or practice assessor at an advanced practice level. Examine educational theory, inclusive approaches, professionalism and patient education
As a core pillar of advanced practice, education underpins both clinical expertise and workforce development. This module prepares you to act as a practice supervisor, assessor or educator for student advanced practitioners and as a patient educator.
You'll examine a range of educational and learning theories, including pedagogy and andragogy, and consider how they apply to your own educational practice. Supervision approaches, practice assessment, and the professional regulations that govern these roles are covered in depth.
Inclusive learning is a strong theme: you'll explore cultural variations, neurodiversity, digital learning, and how to reach diverse learners in more remote and rural contexts. Professionalism, revalidation, interprofessional learning, and reflective practice are also explored.
Assessment involves both a critical reflective account of an educational interaction with a student advanced practitioner, and an observed patient education session. This module is studied fully online and is an optional component of MSc Advanced Practice.
