Foundation module (GM51077)

This module introduces the fundamental knowledge necessary for the study of motion analysis.  The learning units cover the topics of:

• Essential Anatomy
• Essential Mathematics
• Essential Physics
• Vector Methods in Motion Analysis
• Research Methods in Motion Analysis

Although some elements of this module are not directly related to motion analysis, they are prerequisites for understanding motion analysis and integral in the understanding of subsequent modules. You will learn that the unit Vector Methods in Motion Analysis is essential because motion capture techniques use vectors to make kinematic and kinetic calculations. Similarly, the unit on Research Methods will help you develop the skills required to conduct literature searches, plan and design a project, and undertake the basic stages of scientific research.
