The course aims to develop a critical understanding and evaluation of the science of the Earth’s water resources and the risks that they pose to society. It draws attention to key water hazards on Earth and how society addresses specific issues of the hazard posed and how to cope with risk. On completion of the course, the student will have a comprehensive knowledge of water hazards in a variety of spatial and temporal scales. This will be coupled with an understanding of risk mitigation, evaluation and associated hazard assessment.
