Applying Theory to Research and Practice module (GE32020)

Aims

• To build an understanding of the broad conceptual and methodological frames through which geography is studied and practised.
• To engage students in ideas that geography is acritical and reflective discipline and to encourage them to appreciate the plural, dynamic and contested nature of the discipline.
• Provide a context for students to discuss the principles of geographic thought that bind and divide the sub-fields of physical and human geography.
• To provide a lively and stimulating forum for the discussion of contentious topical issues which have current relevance within and outside the discipline.
