Learn a critical, evidence-based grounding in the Scottish economy, covering governance, labour markets, productivity, inequality, energy, and Scotland's place in the global economy
This module provides a comprehensive grounding in the Scottish economy, examining both its historical development and the contemporary challenges and opportunities it faces.
Topics include Scottish economic history, its governance and public finances, its role and place in the global economy, labour market economics, Scotland’s business environment, its productivity challenges, the nature and extent of Scotland's inequality and poverty dynamics, the country's economic geography, as well as its economic prospects.
You will develop skills in interpreting economic statistics and applying economic analysis to real contexts, including your own workplace and sector.
Teaching uses a blended learning approach integrating combined lecture and tutorial sessions with My Dundee materials, and assessment is through a 100% coursework.
What you will learn
