​​Learn about supply chain management in organisations. You will examine theories, models and strategies and how they are applied in practice. 

​You will cover:

  • ​organisational and supply chain structures 
  • ​supplier relationships and partnering 
  • ​sourcing and the management of suppliers 
  • ​public sector procurement 
  • ​sustainability and socially responsible procurement 
  • ​global sourcing 
  • ​negotiation skills and world-class procurement approaches 

​What you will learn 

​In this module, you will: 

  • ​learn about supply chain management theories, styles and models. You will also learn about their relative strengths and weaknesses 
  • ​understand supply chain management strategies and their application in organisations 
  • ​assess the capability of potential suppliers using appropriate secondary data 
  • ​develop understanding of sustainability and socially-responsible procurement by examining best practices 
  • ​apply supply chain management knowledge in real-world professional contexts 

​By the end of this module, you will be able to: 

  • ​understand supply chain management theories, styles and models. You will also understand their relative strengths and weaknesses 
  • ​understand supply chain management strategies and their application in organisations 
  • ​develop understanding in assessing the capability of potential suppliers using appropriate secondary data

Assignments / assessments

  • ​​Group presentation and report (100%) 
  • ​You will take part in a group presentation on a supply chain management topic. This will allow you to show collaborative analysis and communication skills. You will also contribute to a group written report. This will apply supply chain management theory and practice to an organisational context. 

​This module does not have a final exam.​
