Engineering Design and Manufacture Work-based Learning I module (GA10009)
Develops reflective practice and professional skills through documenting and presenting workplace experiences and resultant learning during your first year
Engineering Design and Manufacture Work Baased Learning I at SCQF Level 7 is a year long module that supports the integration of academic study and professional experience on the Graduate Apprenticeship.
The module gives you the structured opportunity to reflect upon and document your experiences gained through your employment during year one, linking workplace practice to the skills and knowledge developed at university.
You will develop your skills in reflective learning and writing, using a reflective framework to articulate your growth as an engineering professional. A reflective journal, maintained throughout the year, records your ongoing experiences and insights, and provides the basis for a final report that evidences achievement against the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) framework outcomes.
The report will document high-level professional skills developed in the workplace, including interpersonal skills, goal setting, communication, self-management and teamwork, alongside the technical and theoretical skills developed through your university modules.
An oral presentation at the end of the year communicates your key learning and development to an academic audience. You will be supported through workshops on campus and meetings with your workplace mentor throughout the year.
