Biography
A varied academic and industrial career in the field of mechanical engineering design:
- MEng Product Design Engineering (with distinction) – University of Strathclyde (1999)
- Research Fellow in Rapid Prototyping and Tooling (2000-2003) – Rapid Design and Manufacture Centre - University of Strathclyde
- Lecturer in Engineering Design – Department of Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management – University of Strathclyde (2003-2007)
- Mechanical Design Engineer – NCR Dundee (2007-2017)
Teaching
Since returning to academia from industry and joining the University in 2018, Kevin has been leading the design and delivery of the Engineering, Design and Manufacture (EDM) Graduate Apprenticeship programme.
His current teaching profile is:
- Engineering Mechanics - statics, solid mechanics, dynamics (Levels 1-3)
- Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics (Levels 1-2)
- Computer Aided Design and Simulation (Levels 1-4)
- Product Design – design methodologies, management of the design process, empirical design methods, optimisation methods.
- Industrial Engineering – Lean six sigma, planning and design of manufacturing systems
