This module covers approaches to optimising learning through clinical education and supervision. This will specifically cover the Radiology context.

You will critically examine the issues associated with current approaches. This includes issues with theories, evidence and practice.

This will be applicable at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • explore approaches to learning and teaching in the Radiology context
  • learn about assessment methodologies in the Radiology context
  • explore learning and teaching in multi-disciplinary teams
  • learn about organisational culture and student support
  • explore reflective professional practice
  • apply workplace learning theories in teaching technical/non-technical skills and the role of simulation
  • apply workplace learning theories to peer-to-peer learning

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • critically appraise the roles, responsibilities, skills, and attributes of the clinical teacher. This will be in relation to current approaches to supporting learning in the Radiology workplace
  • critically appraise the practicality of theories and models of workplace learning. This will be in relation to clinical teaching and learning in the Radiology context
  • articulate a critical stance by reflecting upon your own planning, preparation, and delivery of clinically focused teaching activities
  • recommend practical measures to critically analyse and integrate key trends and evidence-based strategies into your clinical teaching in the Radiology setting
