Embryology and Developmental Anatomy module (CA51002)

Embryology and development anatomy explores the development of humans from fertilisation onwards.

You will learn about why organs and tissues are organised in the human body in a certain way. You will also learn how differences between individuals are established.

Throughout the module, you will use materials such as anatomical specimens, 3D models and animations. This will allow you to learn about the development of systems such as:

• cardiovascular
• respiratory
• gastrointestinal
• urogenital
• musculoskeletal

You will also learn about the development of the head and neck.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

• learn the sequence of events leading to the development of different body systems
• study how common developmental anomalies occur

By the end of the module, you will be able to:

• summarise the sequence of events leading to the development of a body system
• summarise the relationship between the development of related body systems
• explain common developmental anomalies
• communicate scientific ideas
