You will conduct a small study within your professional environment. You will choose your own area of interest to write a report on your findings.

Using your own research, with academic frameworks and existing literature, you will be able to explore a specific topic in detail.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • plan and put in place an appropriate data collection tool
  • explore key concepts related to research ethics
  • analyse your data to help identify implications for the future development of your practice
  • delve into the SSSC Standard for Childhood Practise Revised (2015) to support evidence-based practise

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • access and apply relevant research to your academic writing
  • show understanding of theories associated with researching
  • collaborate with others as part of the research process
  • understand how your research might respond to the wider Childhood Practice landscape
  • critically reflect on your own practice so that you can continue to develop throughout your career

Assignments / assessment

  • 3,500 word essay (100%)
