You will explore different learning methods on early years education. The focus is on play and creativity within a professional context. This offers an exploration of your own teaching methods.

You will also look at how this is shaped and the impact on children’s holistic learning, wellbeing and development.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • learn how your own values, attitudes, and principles influence your learning approach
  • explore the way in which theory and policy define particular learning approaches. You will also look at how these in turn create learning experiences
  • discuss strategies to promote play and creativity
  • find the links between professional practice, theory, and research

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • critically analyse learning approaches through engagement with theory and in relation to practice
  • identify aspects of your own practice that you would like to further develop
  • understand how your own values, attitudes, and principles influence your learning approach
  • access and critically evaluate professionally relevant literature, showing breadth and depth of reading
  • critically report, analyse, and evaluate literature sources on learning perspectives. You will be able to make links to practice
  • critically analyse learning approaches with emphasis on play and creativity
