Childhood practitioners have a responsibility to consider diversity and inclusion. Actions and decisions made by practitioners can either support equality or reinforce inequality.
You will develop your knowledge and understanding of children’s rights, diversity and inclusion, and the effects of discrimination. You will reflect on your own work practices to support inclusion. All statements of Intended Learning are directly linked to the SSSC standards for Childhood Practice.
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- develop knowledge and understanding of relevant diversity and inclusion policy
- show a commitment to inclusive practice. You will also learn the ability to lead the development of inclusive practice within your professional setting
- develop knowledge and understanding of the effects of discrimination. You will also reflect on your work practices to support inclusion
By the end of the module, you will be able to:
- show a critical understanding of the principal features of local, national, and international systems. You will also be able to show an understanding of policies, practices, and legal requirements relevant to your service
- value and show a commitment to inclusion, diversity, social justice, anti-discrimination, and protecting and caring for children
- coordinate and lead the provision of environments that are safe, secure, caring, nurturing, and inclusive
