The Facility is available between 08:30 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, however, alternative arrangements can be made, subject to the needs of your research participants.

Research support and training
Clinical Research studies carried out within the Children’s Research and Investigations Facility adhere to ICH-GCP standards, EU Directives and Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care (2005) standards.
Research support in collaboration with the Scottish Children Research Network (ScotCRN) can assist with regulatory approval, study set up, study adoption, training & education and standard operating procedures. Templates have been developed for protocols, age appropriate information sheets, consent and assent forms.
Training in “Paediatric Consent: The Practicalities and Legalities in Taking Consent for Paediatric Trials” is provided by ScotCRN in conjunction with the Scottish Law Centre.
The Scottish Children’s Research Network (ScotCRN) and Children’s Research and Investigations Facility have developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for use in Clinical Trials of Investigative Medicinal Products (CTIMPs) and Non-CTiMPS. These SOPs and guidelines relate to research governance and study interventions specific to the paediatric population and have been nationally approved.
These SOPs can be used in conjunction with the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside accredited SOPs to provide guidance for the safe and appropriate involvement of children in research studies.
The Children’s Research and Investigation facility can provide support to researchers working with the pediatric population, and can provide appropriate SOPs on request.
