Introduction

Are you looking to get involved in volunteering, a club or society or getting active in sports but don’t know where to start? Have you never thought of getting involved, or think extra-curricular activities are not for you?

SWITCH aims to help students maintain positive health in the following ways:

  • promote a sense of wellbeing for the body and mind
  • encourage physical activity as a form of self-help
  • help raise confidence, self-esteem and energy levels
  • promote a sense of belonging and participation in the life of the University and wider connected community in Dundee

Use our SWITCH service for a one-to-one referral to help you discover what interests you most and gain a helping hand in reaching out to an activity you want to do. Our service is open to everyone, whatever course, year, or background you have so why not get in touch now. Staff members can also refer students using the form below.

University of Dundee Sports Union is run by students for students and is the hub of all sport on campus.

Join our connected community in Dundee and find the opportunity that's right for you. We will support the transition into your new volunteering position, providing continued support throughout. 

There are a whole host of things to get involved in whether you want to work with children, adults or animals and more. 

Volunteering can help you learn new skills, gain experience and sometimes even qualifications. These transferable skills can look great on your CV. 

The benefits of volunteering include:

DUSA has over 200 societies to bring together groups of students who all share the same interest

DUSA has over 200 societies to bring together groups of students who all share the same interest – be that a hobby, belief or passion. Joining a society will help you make friends and develop transferable skills to benefit your career after your time at university.

DUSA advice service provides free and confidential support on various aspects that may affect student life, such as academic appeals, private housing, complaints about the university, welfare support, mental health support and signposting, financial tips, and sexual health advice.

Come and speak to Student Services SWITCH coordinator, who will help you discover what interests you most and gain a helping hand in reaching out to an activity you want to do. 

Use our SWITCH service for a one-to-one referral or to refer a student. We will help you discover what interests you most and gain a helping hand in reaching out to an activity you want to do. The SWITCH initiative runs throughout the academic year and our service is open to everyone, including staff, students and post-graduate researchers. Complete our online referral application or email/phone and we'll get you booked in and SWITCHED ON.
