Log in to your shared mailbox
Updated on 7 July 2023
You don't need to log into your shared mailbox with a password, instead you get to it through your own email account
There are three ways you can access your shared mailbox, once you've been granted access to it by the Service Desk. Have a look at all three and decide which suits you best based on the way you access your email and what you're using the shared mailbox for.
Option 1. Outlook Client
You'll see your shared mailbox and all the folders it contains under your own on the left.
If you want to reply to an email as though it's coming from your shared mailbox and not yourself, be sure to double-check the From field is right before you click send.
Can't see it? You might need to add it manually.

Option 2. Outlook on the Web
Click where your name and display photo are in the top right (on the web navigation bar).
In the drop-down, select Open another mailbox and search for your mailbox name to open it in a new window. Any emails you send from this new window will appear to come from your shared mailbox and not yourself.
Option 3. Outlook on the Web
Similar to the Outlook Client option, you'll see your shared mailbox and the folders it contains appear underneath your own on the left.
You can look at the emails but if you reply to any, your response will appear to come from your personal email rather than the shared mailbox.
Can't see it? You might need to add it manually.
Right-click on your name (on the left) and choose Add shared folder...
You'll get a pop-up just like in Option 2 asking you to search for your shared mailbox.
