Life-saving nursing graduates

nursing graduates 2025

Two of Friday's nursing grads have already put their training into practice - by helping save the life of a man who had fallen unconscious in the street.

Kelly was heading into town with her sister when she spotted a man lying on the ground. Immediately assessing the situation, she rushed to help and began directing members of the public to support her. But, by coincidence, classmate Georgia was also passing by and pulled over to help.

The pair, putting their learning into action, kept the patient stable until paramedics could take over, citing that their course at Dundee helped give them the confidence to help out in the situation.

Congratulations to both Kelly and Georgia who, in another stroke of coincidence, are now working on the same ward at the city's Ninewells Hospital!

Double degrees for twin sisters

Melissa and Faye Addison both graduated from the University this year - but one in summer and one in winter!

Melissa graduated earlier this year in Psychology and is now working in a school with children with additional needs, and Faye gained her Nursing degree in November and is now working at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Congratulations to both of them!

Maggie Chapman MSP – Our new rector!

They are a member of the University’s governing body – the University Court.

Three Generations, Six Degrees: The Williams Family's Dundee Connection

the Williams family

Mia-Jane Williams has just completed her MSc in Developmental Psychology with Merit, adding to an impressive family collection of University of Dundee degrees. Her achievement marks the sixth degree earned by the Williams family from the University, following her BSc in Psychology in 2024.

The family's Dundee journey began with mum, Dr Fi Williams FRSA, who completed a Master of Arts, a Master of Letters, and her PhD in 2021. Brother Robert followed the family tradition, graduating with his Master of Arts in Liberal Arts in 2023. Together, their ‘super six’ degrees represent not just academic success, but a remarkable family bond with the University of Dundee that spans generations.

Jarrett Fiske

One of the hundreds of students graduating this week has had a busy year balancing ice and academics.

Jarrett Fiske came to Scotland to kickstart his professional ice hockey career in Europe, as part of our partnership with Dundee Stars, which also provided him with the opportunity to enrol in an MSc course in the School of Business here at the University of Dundee.

The Dundee Stars goaltender will receive his degree today alongside two other teammates - a huge congratulations from us!
