About

Ruari Knott

My body of artwork primarily consists of visual pieces created using print and projection, which are my preferred mediums. I am drawn to the intersection of traditional printmaking and the digital world. My ideas are heavily influenced by the most elemental of human interactions, historical and imminent experiences, and my own unique memories.

Reflection on imagery and its relationship to my personal experiences is central to my work, and new perspectives are constantly being incorporated into my art. The imagery I bring together references our collective memory and is grounded and expanded by how we, as human beings, experience the world around us. I respond to time-specific environments, infusing my compositions with a sense of familiarity that invites viewers to establish a personal connection.

The media and references I gather coalesce into an atmospheric installation that creates a space of consideration and reflection, where the viewer can be gently immersed into my visual world. Though my work may appear minimalist, each layer is carefully manipulated multiple times and is representative of my visual thinking.
