My work is about the Hong Kong protests and a candle lit vigil of Tiananmen square which is currently banned in Hong Kong.

About

Five petal like shapes swirl and fade against a black background.

I am focusing on the Hong Kong protests and the Tiananmen square, I was born in Hong Kong and after seeing the protests for independence I wanted to create a vigil to show my respects as the Chinese Government have banned the candlelight vigil that gets held every June 4th for the Tiananmen Square under covid restrictions. Last year organisers were arrested under national security law which recently has been overturned as the judge found the police have not properly justified the vigils ban. I am creating a live stream to Hong Kong so those who want to watch in remembrance can do so in the safety of their homes and give voices to those who feel they have none as the vigil continues to be banned.

Hong Kong: Evolution through flags and unions

Four rectangular flags of Hong Kong each depicted in different colour and variations showing the different unions Hong Kong has been a part of. The top left has colours of the Union Jack. The top right is the original Hong Kong flag. Bottom left has colours of China and bottom right is the protest flag.
