About

Portrait of Nathan Dudley.

A condition that  effects a quarter of the world’s childhood population and around half of the estimated 700,000 autistic population in the UK; Toe-Walking is a condition that often results in injuries to the calf, achilles tendon, ankle, foot and back. Persistent long-term toe-walking does not just have serious health implications but tends to continually break apart new trainers and current interventions are not effective, but painful and invasive to the foot.

The NFH Discovery, inspired by a life-long observation and new-found connection with my autistic brother; aims to solve this problem is a sandal designed to correct toe-walking behaviours by providing a comfortable, tear-resistant, individualised 3D-printed solution with a signature textured foot bed that provides long-term relief from ineffective walking patterns, facilitating rest for more than 1000 ligaments and 21 muscles continually suspending the foots architecture from the floor.

Consisting of a modular and customisable construction, the customer will be able to swap features in Virtual Reality to their hearts content, from the strap to laces, midsole, foot bed and outer-shell. Encouraging discovery, interaction with the world around them, and confidence to fly feet further towards new frontiers - with New Found Hope in their soles.
