Leo Lincoln
Leo Lincoln is a Illustrator, comic artist and zine-maker based in Dundee and occasionally Glasgow.
About
I’m Leo and I’m a disabled Illustrator born in North Lanarkshire.
I use mostly traditional mediums, especially watercolour paints and coloured pencils, and ways of marrying the two, a technique I like to call “controlled chaos”.
I’m known for making colourful dream-like narratives using psychedelic landscapes and little characters.
I have been drawing my whole life but did not start using colour until latter high school when I impulse bought a set of Prismacolor pencils.
My main inspirations come from Surrealist and Lowbrow art, as well as cartoons I grew up with. I love to explore human issues through fantastical imagery, conveying messages that are both reflective as well as ridiculous; I want my work to feel like a hug from a friend.
I describe myself as an autistic artist because it is vital in how I interpret the world; my goal is to create stories that feature disabled people and other underrepresented groups.
I have found university challenging but would not trade the experience for anything else, I have met so many people who have helped shape me into a resilient creative, going forward with my Illustration journey I want to break into the comic book and picture book industries, I am excited about sharing my own stories with the world, as well as helping bring other peoples to life.
