About

finn_mackenzie_profile

I am a Glaswegian illustrator who has always enjoyed visually researching my surrounding through the action of drawing. Exploring how I could interpret what I see to create visually interesting character personalities and scenes. Bringing those visual elements to life and reflecting key information about the subject/theme or general project as the foundation, to communicate underlying truth in all my creative endeavours.
During my time studying illustration at DJCAD I have begun to refine my approach towards making, whilst also allowing myself to stay open-minded to new methods of working, as I am constantly learning in my day-to-day development processes.
In the past I have always chosen to work very traditionally, using analogue methods with a keen interest in layering and combing mediums, most notably printmaking. In the last few years, I have taken up many more approaches, including digital mediums, laser-cutting, model making and new tactile media. This has helped me become more versatile and purpose driven as an artist, expanded my understanding of how to approach creating a successful end product.
