A medicinal psilocybin retreat offering guided psychedelic experiences in the aid of mental health. Situated on the tidal island of Lindisfarne, Northumberland.
About
Isle of Alucinari explores a ‘design for the future’ concept; influenced by a recent resurgence in the investigation into the benefits of psychedelics, in the aid of mental health. The new build project imagines a holistic medicinal retreat, in which the choice of medication is the psychedelic substance psilocybin (‘magic mushrooms’). The retreat is situated on the tidal island of Lindisfarne on the coast of Northumberland, along with its beautiful natural environment, the island has rich religious history and provides an ethereal setting for the psychedelic structure.
The structure's architecture and interior is inspired by the geometric patterns while exploring the paper folds of origami; the anatomy of the mushroom and mycelium itself influenced the form of the building along with detailing of the interior.
The experience offers therapy and guided meditation spaces along with a ceremony room. A subsurface psychedelic mushroom farm facilitating the growth of premium plant medicine. A vertical tower farm producing ‘Alucinari grown’ fruit and vegetables year round. An enlightenment library offering reading from around the world to suit along with an olympic length lap pool. Personal quarters with views of the North Sea, where ‘voyagers’ can wild swim when conditions are suitable.
