About

Unexpected beauty is all around us, some untouched and some unnoticed. This collection brings to life the most unnoticed things around me and captures their beauty with micro photography. This kind of photography captures the utmost smallest details and brings them to life. The repetition of organic shapes and lines are drawn from the imagery taken, the crisp shapes of peeling paint and crackling trees were a pinpoint in this collection. As each crackle forms within the paint it creates a different shape which then can change as it flakes off,. These shapes were then taken and developed into 3D structures. Throughout the use of both silver and copper wire a variety of forms were explored and developed to create oversized pieces which include earrings, bracelets, rings and a neck piece. A variety of finishes were then applied such as powder coating and Satanizing to make the pieces stand out.
The delicate flower like forms create feminine attributes. Feminine jewellery interests me as I enjoy the organic flowing forms of the metal flower shapes which were created and developed throughout my collection. The flower shapes were not intentional when creating the wire structures. I enjoy the idea that the viewer will think that the collection is inspired by flowers but is in fact inspired by something completely unexpected. This was the whole point of my collection to highlight the unexpected beauty around us and shock people when they are told where the inspiration was really from.
