Charly Ross

Charly Ross is a jeweller fascinated with the human form and the beauty surrounding the body. As someone who has struggled with her own body image, she wishes to celebrate the flaws and admire the imperfections. Using a large subject such as the body, Charly is taking areas branded unattractive and transforming them into small scale wearable pieces, the becoming of “EXQUISITE BODIES”. 

Charly uses her own body as a main subject. She captures and develops this through body photography, life drawing and secondary research to create a deeper understanding. Her main source of inspiration comes from the flowing folds, lines and scars that are disguised within the body. Charly aims to capture the textures and forms as if the individual was wearing a second skin.  

“EXQUISITE BODIES” combines a range of different collections using a mix of metals and methods. Her use of fold forming and hammering techniques allows Charly to mimic the sensitive shapes. Colour is brought throughout the collection through Japanese patination allowing for interesting finishes to enhance the pieces.
