About

Portrait of Caitlin Taylor

Caitlin Taylor is a maker and jeweller, who draws her inspiration from the natural world; from flora and fauna to the cells and structures that make up the human body. Her current body of work is deeply personal, focusing on the impact of colour after a traumatic event, and how it has helped her to embrace her grief and heal.

This collection is Caitlin’s own personal form of healing, that many others may relate to. She aims to inject this feeling of renewal and happiness into anyone who may be in the same position, even if it’s just a bright moment in their day. After one of the darkest periods in her life, she embraces bright, vivid, and exciting colour again by creating a connection with each piece; abstracting shapes and colours from her most beloved places and spaces and applying them to the body in relation to where grief most affects.

Caitlin uses traditional jewellery techniques and materials, alongside computer assisted processes to create her bold mixed media designs. Her favoured materials are precious and base metals, spray paint, PLA and acrylic sheet used in combination with hydro-dipping and powder coating. These materials and techniques allow for her bold expression of colour and shape, as well as creating unique and individual pieces.
