Privacy notice for ShortList.Me

The University of Dundee has purchased a license for ShortList.Me to allow students to practice and refine skills in presenting themselves online in a recruitment focussed manner.

Personal Data

You control your own information on ShortList.Me and only need to use your chosen name, phone number and an email address to register for an account.  No other information is required.

How we use your information

As a registered user you will be in control of the set up and maintenance of your ShortList.Me account and you will be able to manage, edit, store and delete your recorded interviews.  We will not enrol you on the software on your behalf, nor will we have access to your account.

If you are part of a credit bearing module and are required to complete an interview or presentation using ShortList.Me for the purposes of an assessment you will be sent a link to complete an assessment and will then share with the Careers Service once complete. 

During this exchange we will not be able to access, amend, view or share your account.  You will share the single assessment via a secure link.

We will assess and store your assessed submission in accordance with the University of Dundee data protection statement (normally for one year following exam board for the academic module in which the assessment pertained).

ShortList.Me is designed to be used to privately practice online interview technique and the sharing of any recordings or personal information is at your discretion.

Lawful processing

The University asserts that it is lawful for it to process this personal data for this purpose in the exercise of its official authority, according to its powers and obligations under Royal Charter and further to the student contract as defined by the Terms and Conditions of Registration.

Your rights

The University is pleased to be able to offer ShortList.Me and believes this adds important elements to the support we can offer you through the Careers Service. However, if you wish to update, access, erase, or limit the use of your information, please let us know by emailing careers@dundee.ac.uk. If you wish to complain about the use of your information please email dataprotection@dundee.ac.uk. You may also wish to contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
