Ordinance 58
Ordinance 58 – The Faculties (as approved by Senate on 18 March 2026)

- There shall be four Faculties as follows:
- The Faculty of Health
- The Faculty of Life Sciences
- The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Business
- The Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences
- The Faculties shall comprise such academic disciplines as shall be prescribed by the Senatus.
- (3.1) There shall be a Vice-Principal of each Faculty who shall be appointed by the Court, in accordance with a process approved by the Court. Each Faculty Vice-Principal shall exercise general oversight and executive management of her or his Faculty and shall have such powers and duties, shall be appointed under such terms and conditions and shall receive such remuneration as the Court may determine.
(3.1) To support her or him in exercising these responsibilities, within each Faculty there shall be constituted a Faculty Executive Group, the composition of which shall be approved by the University Executive Group. - The Vice-Principal shall, when present, preside over meetings of the Faculty Executive Group and the Faculty Board.

(5.1) For each Faculty there shall be constituted a Faculty Board as follows: 1. The Vice-Principal, who shall be the convener;
- The members of the Faculty Executive Group;
- One senior member of academic staff from another Faculty, as determined by the University Executive Group on the recommendation of the Vice-Principal;
- The Faculty President and any Vice-Presidents;
- An elected officer of the executive of the Students’ Association, as determined by the President of the Students’ Association in consultation with the Vice-Principal;
- All other members of the academic staff of the Faculty;
- Members of other staff groups within or supporting the Faculty;
- Other persons at the invitation of the Vice-Principal and with the approval of the Faculty Board.
(5.2) Each Faculty Board shall have the following functions:
- To advise the Vice-Principal and the Faculty Executive Group on all matters relating to the organisation of education and research in the subjects of the Faculty including curricula and examinations;
- To be responsible for the oversight of such operational aspects of student admissions, student administration, the management of learning and teaching, quality assurance and research as may be delegated to it by the Senatus;
- To discuss any matters related to the Faculty and any matter referred to it by the Senatus, and to convey its views and recommendations thereon to the Senatus;
- Such other functions as the Senatus may authorise and prescribe.
