Law School shadowing experience student code of conduct
This document is for all students undertaking a University of Dundee Law School shadowing experience

Please read this document and ensure you understand what is expected of you when undertaking your shadowing experience.
When offered a One Day Shadowing Experience, I agree:
- To respond to the Careers Service email offer of a One Day Shadowing Experience within 3 working days.
- To respond to the Careers Service email connecting me with the host employer I’ve been matched with, within 3 working days to arrange a suitable date, logistics and focus of my One Day Shadowing Experience.
- To communicate with the Careers Service and my host employer professionally at all times.
- To copy [email protected] into my correspondence with my host employer/organisation.
- To inform the Careers Service immediately if I can no longer undertake the One Day Shadowing Experience offered.
- To advise the Careers Service urgently if I have not received expected contact from my host organisation.
- That if I fail to do any of the above, the One Day Shadowing Experience may be offered to another student.
When undertaking my One Day Shadowing Experience, I agree:
- To attend my One Day Shadowing Experience as agreed with the host organisation and adhere to working practices as directed.
- To be reliable and committed to my One Day Shadowing Experience.
- That it is my responsibility to manage my time and commitment.
- To act professionally and appropriately, follow all instructions given by the One Day Shadowing Experience supervisor, and pay particular attention to confidentiality and data protection.
- To inform my host organisation, and the Careers Service immediately if I cannot attend my One Day Shadowing Experience as agreed.
- To not undertake any tasks which I judge to be dangerous or inappropriate. I must take reasonable care and work in line with the relevant Health and Safety procedure. If I am unsure about any activity, I should consult my host organisation, and the Careers Service immediately.
- To consult the Careers Service immediately if I have any problems during my One Day Shadowing Experience that cannot be resolved with my host organisation.
- To return any property at the end of my One Day Shadowing Experience.
- To meet any travel costs associated in travelling to my One Day Shadowing Experience.
- If I require any additional support, or reasonable adjustments, I should inform my host employer before my One Day Shadowing Experience. Should I need support with this from the Careers Service, I will contact [email protected]
- That I understand that this One-Day Shadowing Experience is a voluntary opportunity and is not a paid opportunity and does not provide academic credit.
The Careers Service will:
- Provide you with the opportunity to discuss your One Day Shadowing Experience on a one-to-one basis should you require it.
- Store personal data provided by you in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
- Ask you to complete a survey to help us improve the initiative.
