Honorary fellowships

Guidance on revisions to allow Honorary fellowships to be recommended for members of staff who have retired and friends of the University who have made a significant contribution.

2. Honorary fellowships

The Committee received proposals for revision and expansion of the current rules governing the award of the title "Honorary Fellow" to include friends of the University as well as retired staff.

Resolved: to recommend the title Honorary Fellow of the University may be conferred by the Court on the recommendation of the PAG & Deans Committee on two categories of honorands:

  • members of staff who have retired and given substantial service to the University and who wish to retain a formal connection with the University;
  • friends of the University who have made a significant contribution to its work, or to an area of activity related to its work, or who hold an office in an organisation with which the University wishes to form a mutually beneficial relationship.
