Chair of Court
Responsible for the leadership and effectiveness of the University Court, the Chair of Court will work closely with the Principal & Vice Chancellor to steer the University of Dundee through a challenging period of financial recovery, and will work to oversee the creation and implementation of a new strategy and direction as the University of Dundee strives to achieve financial sustainability. The Chair will be responsible for the leadership and effectiveness of Court. They do not have executive powers but must ensure that the Court is effective in reaching collective decisions and that it exhibits good governance and observes the principles of conduct as defined by the Committee on Standards in Public Life.
The successful candidate will be:
- A senior leader with demonstrable experience of chairing or leading large, complex organisations from the private, public or third sectors which have gone through major change;
- Resilient and inspiring, with good judgement and excellent financial acumen;
- An excellent communicator with exemplary influencing skills who can represent the University at the highest levels and who forms productive working relationships with fellow Court members, the Principal and the University’s Executive Leadership group;
- Appreciative of the higher education funding landscape, committed to achieving the University’s vision, mission and values and with an understanding of the importance and role of good corporate governance.
