The tuition fee you pay will vary depending on your fee status and your course. The fee for each course can be found on the individual course pages.

For many applicants, your fee status is the same as your current country of residence. However, not all cases are this straightforward. We use the information you provide on your application to determine your fee status, and will confirm this with you after you submit your application.

Fee status

The four fee status categories are ScottishRest of UKEU and Overseas

The information below is for the Overseas fee status only, and you should refer to the undergraduate and postgraduate information for all fee statuses. Please remember that your fee status will be determined by us using the information you provide on your application.

Overseas (non-EU) student

"My home is NOT in Scotland and I am a national from outside the EU."

If the above statement applies to you then you will probably be classified as an international student for fee purposes. You will pay the Overseas student tuition fee rates as detailed on each specific course page under Fees and Funding.

Fee guarantee for undergraduate courses

We realise that it is difficult for our international applicants to commit to an undergraduate degree for three or four years when you do not know how much the tuition fee will be after your first year. Unlike most other UK universities, we have agreed a fee guarantee for international applicants to our undergraduate courses from 2015-16 onwards.

This means that the tuition fee you see on our course pages for 2017-18 is the same fee you will pay for each year of your course. We guarantee that this will not increase while you are studying with us. The only exceptions to this are our MBChB Medicine and BDS Dentistry degrees which charge a different tuition for the clinical years.

Additional cost of Clinical Teaching (ACT) Levy

Find out more about the introduction of an NHS Scotland Additional cost of Clinical Teaching (ACT) levy for overseas Medical students from 2016 onwards.

International scholarships

We have a range of scholarships for international applicants which will reduce the total tuition fee you have to pay. You can find out more about what is on offer on our International Scholarships page.
