Mrs Jane Grant (Lecturer and Gait Services Physiotherapist) has an undergraduate physiotherapy degree from The Queen’s College, Glasgow and a further Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Glasgow. She has extensive clinical experience, particularly within Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine both within the NHS. Alongside this, she has worked for many years with Sports Scotland and supported athletes, from a variety of sports, with rehabilitation, training camps and competitive events.

Jane previously held an academic role as a University Lecturer within the Physiotherapy School at Glasgow Caledonian University delivering keynote lectures, practical sessions, module leadership and project supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy students.

Jane's role within UDOTS involves teaching, student support and project supervision and clinically she is part of the multidisciplinary team within the Tayside Clinical Gait Service, assessing patients, collecting and analysing data and supporting Clinicians in the management of patients.

Mr Arpit Jariwala (UDOTS Director) commented:

“What a great way to start the new year at UDOTS! We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jane to the team. Jane’s physiotherapy experience combined with her extensive knowledge of sports rehabilitation will add a valuable perspective to our research, teaching, and clinical activities. Jane will supervise postgraduate and undergraduate student research projects. She will be an integral member of the clinical gait analysis service where most referrals are from paediatric orthopaedic surgeons concentrating on the long-term management of children with conditions affecting their growth and development such as cerebral palsy and spina-bifida.”

Jane is married with three grown-up children and in her spare time, she is a keen swimmer and has been involved in the sport at an elite level both as a competitor and a physiotherapist for many years. Jane continues to compete at National and International Masters level and holds European, British, and Scottish swimming titles. She is a qualified Pilates Instructor and continues to teach weekly Pilates classes.
