Organised by Dr Ahmed Hassan Ahmed, Dr Yang Wang, and Professor Shamima Haque, the Colloquium showcased the strength and diversity of current doctoral research in accounting and finance and reinforced the value of academic collaboration across institutions.

A highlight of the day was the keynote speeches delivered by Professor Chandana Alawattage (University of Glasgow) and Professor John O.S. Wilson (University of St Andrews). Their thought-provoking talks offered valuable insights and inspiration to both early-career researchers and senior academics.

The organising team extends its sincere thanks to all delegates, presenters, session chairs, and speakers who contributed to the day’s success. Special appreciation goes to Professor Morris Altman, Dr Theresa Dunne, Dr Stavros Kourtzidis, Professor David Power, and Dr Renzo Cordina for their support.

We would also like to thank Linn McFarlane for her excellent administrative coordination. Our thanks also go to PhD students Dongxue, Nazanin, and Mohammad for their invaluable assistance on the day.

One of the highlights of the Colloquium was the Best Paper Awards, recognising exceptional research presented during the event. These awards were sponsored by the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Scottish Area Group. Congratulations to our Best Paper Award winners, Ryan Ferguson and Zixuan Yan from the University of Edinburgh Business School.

The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science (SGSSS) and BAFA’s Scottish Area Group.

Reflecting on the event, the organising team shared:
