British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths organised by the British Science Association and it takes place between 8 - 17 March 2024.

We have a huge range of activities relating to forensic science that are suitable for teachers to use or for people to try out at home. Here are some of the ways you can engage with forensic science this British Science Week:

  • Play our virtual puzzle game ‘The Curse of the Burial Dagger’ with friends at home or virtually – Can you discover how Lord Hamilton died? Suitable for ages 10+
  • Explore Drug Detection with our Crime Lab Forensic Chemistry at home project
  • Listen in to our Inside Forensic Science podcast series that takes historical cases and asks experts today what they might have done differently (suitable for ages 15+)
  • Watch our playlist of talks and interviews about forensic science on our YouTube channel – if you are wondering what forensic science careers are like, or what it is like behind the scenes of a crime fiction TV show we have you covered
  • Understanding Forensic Science Comics- A series of comics created to explore the benefits and limitations of different forensic evidence types.
  • Royal Institution Debate Kits – We supported the creation of these classroom Debate Kits. The Kit is designed to facilitate a debate lasting around 50 minutes, requires very little preparation, and is free to schools in the UK. Order a free kit!
  • Find out the recipe for the most realistic fake blood and try some blood spatter experiments at home.

Let us know what you get up to via @LRCFS on X, LinkedIn and Facebook. See the full programme for British Science Week around the UK here.
