Have you always wanted to study creative writing but not sure where to start? This is the course for you. We will explore a number of key texts -short stories, poetry and extracts from novels and non-fiction – as an introduction to the skills you need. You will respond both critically and creatively to these texts and exercises, and you will gain confidence in discussing literature and ideas, and learn how to build and reflect upon your own creative practice. There will be a strong emphasis on each student producing their own portfolio of poetry or prose generated by in-class practical exercises.

This course is delivered online at undergraduate level. It is credit-bearing, and therefore requires a part-time commitment of ten weeks.
