Using original sources and records, you will be able to develop your research skills and find out more about your family or local history.  You will also explore the historical context in which your ancestors lived.  

You will learn about:

  • civil and criminal courts and police forces
  • education
  • church court records
  • manorial records and estate papers
  • title deeds, maps and plans

The course is fully online, and you will have expert tutors who are professional archivists and experienced genealogists.

You will also have access to:

  • a range of exciting records, not just registers and census data
  • a discussion forum to exchange views and information

There is no formal assessment and you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the University.
