Student satisfaction increases at Dundee, survey results show

Student satisfaction at the University of Dundee has increased, results from the National Student Survey (NSS) 2026 reveal.

Early analysis of the results shows that the University has improved in overall satisfaction, up to 86.1% from 84.8% in 2025.

Results shows that the University is ranked fourth overall in Scotland – a rise of one place from last year – while the data also shows Dundee to be placed first themese in the UK for several subjects, including:

  • Architecture
  • Biosciences
  • Computer Science
  • Dentistry
  • Education
  • Mathematics


Dundee is also placed first in Scotland for:

  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Children's nursing
  • Civil engineering
  • Geography
  • Pharmacology
  • Planning


Professor Linda Martindale, Vice-Principal (Education and Student Experience), said, “I wish to express my gratitude to every member of our University community who has contributed to delivering these excellent results.

“To achieve scores such as this is a considerable achievement and testament to the dedication and determination of colleagues across campuses, particularly considering our current situation.

“Dundee has always been synonymous with great student experience and we will continue in our efforts to improve this further in the months and years ahead. 

“We know that NSS outcomes play a critical role in domestic league tables and bolstering student recruitment and our reputation. Thank you to everyone whose expertise and determination has played a part in this success.”

Professor Nigel Seaton, Interim Principal and Vice Chancellor at the University, added, “This excellent outcome in the National Student Survey reflects our continuing dedication to teaching and supporting our students, and is testament to the outstanding work of my colleagues under difficult circumstances.”
