Partnership to enhance dental education in Kurdistan Region in Iraq
The University of Dundee has entered into an agreement with a leading Iraqi university to share its expertise in dental education.

A delegation from the University of Sulaimani visited the City of Discovery to sign the agreement, which will see Dundee academics support curriculum review, staff development, and the enhancement of postgraduate education at Sulaimani.
Professor Nigel Seaton, Interim Principal and Vice Chancellor at the University, said, “Dundee is both a centre of dental education excellence and an international institution dedicated to transforming lives across the world.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the University of Sulaimani to enhance dental education provision in Iraq. This will make a tangible difference to dental professionals and their patients.”
Dundee has been named as the top UK university for Dentistry in the last three editions of the Complete University Guide and was also ranked as one of the world’s top 50 for Dentistry in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. The University provides exceptional opportunities for study at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with students benefitting from exposure to research and excellent clinical facilities.
The partnership with Sulaimani will focus on benchmarking academic programmes against UK and international standards, strengthening teaching and quality assurance frameworks, building staff capacity, and expanding postgraduate and research supervision capabilities in the field of dental education.
The agreement was signed by Professor Seaton and Professor Dr Kosar M. Ali Murad, President of the University of Sulaimani, and Assistant Professor Dr Ranjdar M. Osman, Dean of the College of Dentistry at Sulaimani.
