She was employed as a project architect on a variety of large scale commercial projects before moving back to Scotland in 2004. Her time is currently split between studio tutoring at the University of Dundee, lecturing in the Construction Technology Department at D&A College and working on small scale design projects.

Ruth has a wide experience in community projects and public collaboration and is interested in their potential to inform live studio projects. Ruth was instrumental in the formation of the Broughty Ferry Development Trust, a charitable organisation with a remit to develop regeneration initiatives to improve the built environment and local community.

Ruth has a particular interest in teaching drawing skills and as a member of the DCA Print studio continues to develop her own work in drawing and printing.

Teaching

Ruth has taught on the undergraduate M.Arch programme at Dundee for over 12 years. Her teaching draws from a range of experiences including her ongoing design practice. She was previously an associate lecturer and module leader for Abertay University on the BSc(Hons) Sustainable Architectural Design course and is currently appointed as an external examiner for the University of the Highlands and Islands Architectural Technology (BSc Hons) programme.
