Mikkal Herberg

Professor Mikkal Herberg is Research Director for the Energy Security Program at The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR). He is also a Senior Lecturer on the political economy of international energy at the School for Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California San Diego.

Previously he spent 20 years in the oil industry in strategic planning roles for ARCO, where from 1997-2000 he was Director for Global Energy and Economics, responsible for worldwide energy, economic, and political analysis. He also headed country risk management and held previous positions including director of portfolio risk management and director for emerging markets.

His research focuses on Asian and global energy issues to the energy industry, governments, research institutions and the media in the U.S., Asia and Europe.
