Biography
Beth is a digital making technician (part-time) in the DJCADMake space. She joined the University of Dundee’s digital making team in 2016 with experience in design technologies, the use of innovative materials and a wide knowledge of design skills and techniques.
Along with Robert Jackson and Ali Napier, Beth is responsible for the running of DJCAD's digital making space, DJCADMake. The space opened in the academic year 2014-2015, and gives students access to - and support in - digital fabrication techniques such as 3D print, laser cutting and etching, vinyl cutting and 3D digital modelling.
Since graduating in Jewellery and Metal Design from DJCAD she is a freelance designer/maker and runs her own jewellery business using innovative technology and smart materials.
Teaching
Beth supports the students in the Make space during evenings and weekends. This involves developing their skills and providing guidance during the use of digital technology, equipment and techniques.
Beth has been involved in educational workshops both in the university setting and within the community.
She was also Designer in Residence in the jewellery department for two years assisting students and staff.
