As an Associate Dean (Research) within the School of Medicine, I have direct responsibility for the management of Research throughout the medical school at both the strategic and operational level. Working closely with the Heads of Divisions and the school Research Management team I am responsible for ensuring that the medical school is delivering top quality research excellence which will deliver impact and benefit to the health of the population both locally and globally.
Three spinout projects from the University of Dundee with the potential to deliver significant healthcare benefits have received more than £250,000 from Scottish Enterprise to support their development.
Researchers from the University of Dundee have helped identify distinct forms of type 2 diabetes in South Asians, a development with important implications for prognosis and management of the disease.
The University of Dundee has signed an agreement that will see it work to improve outcomes for diabetes patients in Afghanistan while training local researchers to carry out future studies into the disease.
