Biography

Charlotte Maishman is a School Technician at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD), supporting students across both Digital Equipment Loans and the Contemporary Art Practice workshop. She brings together technical expertise, practical making experience and an active artistic practice to support the development, production and presentation of student work.

As a Digital Equipment Loans Technician, Charlotte supports the Digital Equipment Loans service and provides technical assistance across audio-visual equipment, projection, moving image, sound and digital media. She works with students on a wide range of projects and exhibitions, helping them develop and realise technical approaches to their work.

Charlotte is also a Technician in the Contemporary Art Practice workshop, supporting students with the making, fabrication and presentation of physical work. The workshop provides facilities and technical support across painting, exhibition presentation, framing and sculptural fabrication, combining contemporary and traditional approaches to making. Charlotte supports students with materials, processes and practical problem-solving, helping them develop work from initial ideas through to finished exhibition outcomes.

Her experience across digital and physical production allows Charlotte to support students working between different forms of contemporary art practice, with particular experience in installation, projection, moving image, fabrication and exhibition presentation.

Alongside her technical role at DJCAD, Charlotte maintains an active artistic practice. She is a Dundee-based artist working primarily with porcelain and projection mapping to create emotionally charged, large-scale installations. Through the interplay of material, light and space, her work explores time, memory and transformation.
