Meet our researchers – Sharing Dundee’s stories with the world
Our researchers share their stories in a series of videos
Published on 25 August 2025
A new case study featuring the University of Dundee’s Meet Our Researchers video series has been published on Dundee’s Discovery Portal.
The series gives audiences a chance to hear directly from our researchers: what drives them, why their work matters, and how it connects to everyday life. By presenting complex ideas in short, accessible videos, Meet Our Researchers makes Dundee’s research easy to engage with and widely shareable.
Why this matters
Behind every research breakthrough is a human story. Meet Our Researchers is about making those stories visible, whether that’s new approaches to healthcare, insights into our history, or innovations shaping future technology. The series also helps attract the next generation of postgraduate researchers by showing the breadth of expertise at Dundee and the possibilities of pursuing research here.
Featured voices
The case study highlights a range of projects with real-world relevance:
- Sean Yu – using 3D scene reconstruction and virtual reality to support forensic investigations
- Louise Marryat – exploring the impact of opioid use in pregnancy on child development
- Michael Crabb – improving media accessibility with AI and subtitle analysis
- Megan O’Neill – researching policing strategies to inform evidence-based practice
- Allan Kennedy – uncovering stories of crime and marginalised groups in early modern Scotland
- Miratul Muqit – advancing understanding of Parkinson’s disease at the molecular level
- Zoe Johnston – developing non-hormonal contraceptives to improve reproductive health
Beyond Dundee
The videos are already making an impact beyond the University. Researchers are using them on social media, in public talks, on personal academic sites, and even in funding applications. For many, the series has led to greater visibility, stronger doctoral applications, and new opportunities for collaboration.
