The DUSA Student-Led Teaching Awards are nominated by students. They recognise, reward, and celebrate the staff who go above and beyond to make your Dundee experience great. The Life Sciences award winners were:
Best Module of the Year – BS32049 Immunology
This award is for a module that is well-organised, interesting, and helps students learn really well. The award went to our third year Immunology module BS32049.
Module co-leads Dr Colin Crawford and Dr Henry McSorley said in response to their win, “We are very proud of this award for BS32049 Immunology, and are delighted the students are enjoying this module. This year was the first time the revised module ran as part of the new Level 3 curriculum, and the first year in which the module was co-led by Dr Colin Crawford (teaching and scholarship) and Dr Henry McSorley (teaching and research) – we really feel that the synergy between the two specialities, together with the excellent contributions of the wider teaching team, has facilitated a very high-quality learning experience”.
Lecturer of the Year – Dr Arthur Crossman
This award is for a lecturer who teaches in a clear, engaging, and inspiring way that students enjoy. The award went to Art who is one of our chemistry specialist lecturers.
"I am truly honoured to have been nominated and then awarded Lecturer of the Year for 2026. I would, also, like to congratulate all other nominees and award winners. Most importantly, I applaud all students for their hard work because without the students, these award sessions would not be possible.
Thank you,
Dr Art and my dog Bracken, of course!"

Technician Excellence Award – Dr Alan Black
This award is for a technical staff member who gives excellent support in labs, IT, studios, or workshops, helping students learn and work better.
Laboratory practicals are a key part of the learning experience for students undertaking degrees in Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Two of the three shortlisted staff in this category were from Life Sciences.
