This year’s symposium brought together academic staff to share insights, spark discussion, and reflect on the evolving landscape of business education.

The symposium featured a diverse range of presentations, each highlighting practical and research-driven approaches to teaching and learning. Topics included:

  • Utilising the School’s Bloomberg Laboratory to enhance financial literacy and real-world data analysis.
  • Exploring the effects of socioeconomic deprivation on academic outcomes, shedding light on equity and access in education.
  • Digital equity in higher education, a timely discussion on bridging the digital divide for students.
  • The impact of real-world case studies on student engagement, demonstrating how applied learning boosts motivation and understanding.
  • Groupwork skills in postgraduate business education, focusing on collaboration and communication in advanced learning environments.
  • Attendance and engagement, and their measurable influence on academic success.

A highlight of the afternoon was the keynote address by Christine Kingsley from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Her talk, “A Curriculum for the Future”, offered a forward-looking perspective on the college’s preparations for the 2025/26 curriculum review, encouraging attendees to think critically about how curriculum design can meet future challenges.

Overall, the symposium reflected the School of Business’s commitment to addressing real-world teaching challenges and continuously improving the student experience. Attendees left inspired, with fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm for scholarship in teaching.”
