In this module social work processes and approaches are explored within an ecological framework, using examples of engagement with both structures and relationships. You will be encouraged to be critically reflective in the development of professional identity and “use of self”.
What you will learn
In this module you will:
- Gain an understanding of the social work role, task and values
- Develop knowledge of social work skills and values
- Develop a reflexive mindset which recognises the interplay of personal histories, dispositions and values.
- Apply theoretical knowledge to practice situations
- Develop your professional identity
By the end of this module you will:
- Developed an understanding of social work professional identity
- Understand key stages of the social work process and relevant theoretical orientations and models
- Been able to undertake key social work skills such as communication and relationship building
- An ability to integrate practice and academic learning
