You will be introduced to creative writing skills that will be valuable for progressing to an undergraduate degree.

You will be guided to produce your own portfolio of poetry and prose during in-class exercises.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • explore key texts (short stories, poetry and extracts from novels)
  • engage with and respond to these texts and exercises
  • learn how to think critically and creatively with regard to all genres
  • gain confidence in discussing literature and ideas
  • learn how to build and reflect upon your own creative practice

By the end of this module, you will:

  • have enriched interpretive skills
  • understand the creative process
  • have enhanced ability to relate findings with practical work
  • build a portfolio of your own creative work

Assignments / assessment

  • portfolio of creative work (60%)
  • module journal (40%)

This module does not have a final exam.
