Enhancing Transition to Registration module (NU42308)

​​This module is designed for nursing students in the final stages of their course, preparing you for the responsibilities that come with registration. It focuses on the professional, leadership, and supervisory dimensions of nursing practice, building your confidence in your readiness to enter the register. 

​You will examine NMC standards for student supervision and assessment, exploring the roles of practice supervisors and practice assessors and what effective support for learners in the clinical environment looks like. The module also covers quality improvement principles and different leadership styles, including communication strategies and approaches to conflict management, so you can understand your role in shaping a positive clinical learning environment. 

​National strategy, policy, and professional standards run throughout, giving you a framework for informed decision making as you step into your role as a Registered Nurse. 

​Assessment takes the form of a 2,000-word quality improvement proposal. You will demonstrate your understanding of leadership, quality improvement methods, and practice supervision by designing a proposal to improve the clinical learning environment for nursing students. 

​What you will learn

• ​Your role in supporting learners and improving the clinical learning environment 

​By the end of this module, you will be able to: 

• ​Explain the requirements of an effective practice supervisor and the support you should provide to learners in the clinical learning environment 
• ​Evaluate appropriate standards, guidance, and policy to inform your decision making 
• ​Evaluate different leadership approaches for effective decision making in the clinical environment, including your own areas for development 
• ​Explain the leadership and professional attributes and communication strategies needed to bring about positive change in the clinical learning environment through a quality improvement approach​

Assignments / assessments

​​Written Assessment (100%) 

• ​2,000-word quality improvement proposal 
• ​Demonstrate your understanding of leadership, quality improvement methods, and practice supervision 
• ​Design a proposal to improve the clinical learning environment for nursing students 
• ​If you do not pass at first attempt, one resubmission will be offered (grade capped at D3)​
